The final portion of the 20+ acre community park included a 4,000 sq. ft. Community Center /
Daycare building. The Park was built on the site of the old “Riverside Raceway” where many
auto races were held in the 1960-1970s. As park designer and project Landscape Architect
WDG gave the center an expandable indoor/outdoor use area by adding a large patio with a
1,800 sq. ft. overhead trellis. WDG made use of an awkward pinch in the property by
introducing a turf bowl and stage patio to act as an Amphitheater for the City’s summer
concert program. A regional water aqueduct easement bisected the site. WDG use this
easement to design a Community Bike Path to sweep through the park connecting it to many
other areas of the City.
